As hotel and Airbnb owners in remote parts of the world are acutely aware, the hype around a popular show can be a godsend in sending scores of tourists and their dollars to an otherwise undervisited destination.

In western New York State, the resort that hosted the weight-loss reality TV program “The Biggest Loser” has spent more than a decade after the NBC show’s finale marketing itself as the destination where visitors can live out their dreams to get slimmer and healthier.

The success of the hit NBC reality show “The Traitors” has also sent waves of tourists to different parts of the Scottish Highlands, and in particular, the area’s many historic estates and castles similar to the one in which the U.S. version of the show is set.

Now, with the Shonda Rhimes-produced Netflix show “Bridgerton” quickly rising to become one of the platform’s most-watched of all time, multiple locations in England and Scotland are also benefiting from fan-inspired travel.

The fourth season of “Bridgerton” premiered on Netflix on Jan. 29.

Real-life Clyvedon Castle in Yorkshire has cottages that can be booked overnight

Visitors can explore countless Regent-Era structures across the United Kingdom.

Still, local outlets such as Express report that tourists, inspired by the “Bridgerton” fourth-season premiere on Jan. 29, have made many overnight bookings at Castle Howard, where much of the series’ action was filmed.

Located in North Yorkshire and built by the Earl of Carlisle Charles Howard in 1699, the Baroque-era castle has been tapped by the show’s producers to serve as the fictional Clyvedon Castle that is home to the Duke and Duchess of Hastings.

In the modern age, Castle Howard operated as a year-round hotel even before it was selected for the hit show. It features 170 luxury cottages, a daytime museum of the sprawling grounds and gardens, and a film set for photo shoots and smaller productions.

Travel news:

After being closed for the filming of “Bridgerton” and the winter season, the main section of the castle known as The House reopens for day visits on March 20. The gardens and several restaurants on the premises have remained open for visitors.

The holiday cottages, meanwhile, can be booked for two or more nights starting at £200 ($275 USD) for the smallest cottages. Cottage guests also have access to the main castle house and grounds included with the cost of their stay.

How to book a real-life hotel stay on the set of “Bridgerton”

“Stay in a luxurious holiday cottage in an Estate village, in a cosy holiday home at the Lakeside Holiday Park, or camp in a tent, camper or caravan at the Caravan Park,” Castle Howard writes in promoting the property.

Those who want to make a more permanent footprint in the estate 15 miles north of the city of York can also invest in real estate.

Some of the cottages are up for sale, as long as owners can abide by the additional rules involved with property that is part of a larger historic castle and estate.
